In 2007 I was commissioned to make a short introductory sequence for a new film series that documents the work of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at California State University, Monterey Bay.

Despite the fact that I had not dealt with film since 1983 (back then I recall it involved having to cut and tape together strips of plastic), I took on the task without hesitation. What I ended up with was a montage of sequences selected from early 20th Century ephemeral films that all had to do with the theme of media and communications. My verdict: Final Cut Pro would have been a nice thing to have in 1983.

Go here to view the film series online; the first 20 seconds of each segment is my intro!
